Piet Bervoets (Rank 1)

Piet Bervoets från Holland, mer känd som ena halvan av Rank 1, har jag fått tag på för att svara på några frågor om Rank 1 och lite om hans egna karriär, men först ska du läsa lite fin fakta!

Piet har producerat tillsammans med några av tranceindustrins stora namn: Ferry Corsten, Carlos Resoort och såklart med Benno de Goeij. Det mest kända projektet som lever idag är Rank 1 (Piet & Benno).

Piet och Benno träffades på en fest 1997, där de pratade om deras passion för musik hela natten. Benno hade då ingen erfarenhet av att producera men han var bra på melodier eftersom han spelat både piano och keyboard. De bestämde sig för att producera tillsammans och vips så hade de givit ut deras första ”Pedro & Benno”-singel! Sedan flöt det bara på, de blev förfrågade om att göra remixer åt bl.a. Dj Jean, Ferry Corsten och Cygnus X. Men det blev låten ”Airwave” som verkligen satte Rank 1 i hetluften, och deras remix på ”Superstring” blev ett anthem till Sensation (världens största inomhusevent).

Rank 1 har alltså producerat klassiker som Airwave, Awakening och Black Snow. Har du inte hört någon utav dom då har du missat något. Airwave har förövrigt fått en re-release detta år som ”Breathing (Airwave 2003)” där de lagt in enkla vocals i låten. Rank 1 gör också finfina remixer!

Ligaya: For how long have you and Benno working together?
We are working togehter since 1997, and still like it together!

Ligaya: Rank 1 have done such a nice classics, how does it feels?
It is very nice to hear that we created a classic, but at that time we
did not know that we were working on a classic. It feels very good!

Ligaya: What is going to happen now? Have Rank 1 any plans?
First we have to finish our new studio's, after that we start working on
our next album!

Ligaya: Finally, what can we expect from Rank 1 in the future?
Al lot of good music, we hope!

(Qestions for Piet)
Ligaya: Please, describe a normal week in your life.
Monday till friday : Alarm goes at 07:00 hours and meet Benno in the
studio at 08:00 hours. Working till 17:00 hours and then drive home. On
monday i play ping pong and on thursday i play chess. The rest of the
evenings are for the wife, because i am hardly ever at home in the
weekends.

Ligaya: For how long time have you been into producing?
I have been into producing since 1991 and do it professionally since
1995!

Ligaya: How does it feels to (have) work with artists like Benno de Goeij, Carlo Resoort and Ferry Corsten?
It feels good, because i think that i created some nice tracks with all
of them!

Ligaya: What do you know about the Swedish trancescene?
I know very little about it, because i have never been there, but i hope
to go there very soon!
